Welcome to Chaddlewood Preschool where our devoted and highly qualified staff are committed to nurturing and educating children 2 years to 4 years of age. We are conveniently located within the grounds of Chaddlewood Primary school, with our younger 2 and 3 year olds in the Bungalow, and the 3 and 4 year olds in the Hut.
In both of our buildings we offer every child an exceptional start to schooling life through our enriching and wellbeing-focused Chaddlewood Preschool curriculum designed by our own Early Years specialists. This holistic yet personal approach supports each child's wellbeing, development, and progress, whether that involves transitioning between buildings or preparing for school.
Our light and homely Bungalow, is designed to allow your child to move freely and independently both indoors and out in to our safe and enclosed garden, enabling them to choose the toys and activities that interest them. They'll love spending their days painting, building with blocks, exploring the sensory trays, and snuggling up for stories in the reading corner. Our large covered outdoor area allows free-flow access to the garden what ever the weather. We have an additional 'Forest area' providing a large mud kitchen to create those mud pies and opportunities to negotiate different terrains. There is also a little planting area for learning about growing vegetables and delicious strawberries!
Preschoolers within the Hut will have lots of fun in our bright and colourful building, where they'll be prepared for their transition to school. The children are encouraged to communicate their thoughts, ideas, and needs, and to develop self-care skills such as washing their hands, serving food, and dressing themselves. They can use their imagination and curiosity during role play. Science activities, where they have opportunities to develop those exploration skills such as mixing water and oil, experimenting with cornstarch, and making their own playdough. We ask open-ended questions and allow children to investigate their ideas, while also supporting them in learning how to regulate their emotions. Our mini allotment is perfect for us to grow vegetables that we can nuture and grow before chopping and eating, teaching not only where food comes from but encourages healthy eating.
We use Tapestry an easy to use and secure online learning journal that helps early years staff and families share and celebrate their children’s learning and development. Tapestry builds a record of a child’s experiences and journey through their early years, using an online electronic journal designed and developed specifically for the EYFS. Using photos, videos and diary entries, early year’s staff, along with the child’s parents/carers create a record of their child’s learning ‘journey’ together. The Tapestry platform enables the information gathered to be kept as an electronic ongoing record. All information held in the platform is stored securely and can be downloaded and shared as required. Parents are able to see their child’s progress and what they have been learning, through the Tapestry platform as staff share observations that have been completed. Parents can also upload their own thoughts and comments to add to these. The communication between staff and parents that Tapestry enables, helps build a shared understanding of how each child can reach their full potential.
